Pagan Pastor nature

Hi, I’m Marie Bakerpoole

Born to a baptist minister, I come from a long line of pastors and have been in and around “the ministry” my whole life. Despite disapproval from my school and some of my family (due to my gender), I made the easy choice to join the family business and graduated with a bachelors in biblical & theological studies before commencing on with a masters of divinity.

With healing as my number one priority I embarked on a personal quest to put to the test my education and experiment with some experiences. Taking all that I had gained from my time in grad school I participated in tantra workshops, played with somatic therapy, began my relationship with plant medicines, communed in ceremony, explored different types of dance, and investigated various paths of paganism. Alchemizing my education, spiritual experiences, background, gifts, and personal healing journey out of trauma and depression I amassed a resume of skills and offerings. During the pandemic I came to see how hungry people are for spiritual connection and how I am uniquely equipped to aid folks on their journey toward freedom.

So am I spiritual coach? Well, not exactly. I’m a pagan pastor; a minister with no church, religious, traditional, or dogmatic affiliation. I care first and foremost that you experience the fullness of this wild, bizarre, and absurd human journey and learn how to enjoy all of your life—the good, the bad, and the ugly. I don’t care what god you believe in or if you believe you need to eat cheese every day to be successful. I care that you know who you are, what makes your life worth living for you, and how to navigate the inevitable difficulties of life with grace, compassion, and curiosity. Want to know more about me? My Approach

Divinity, or the divine, is the connection between all things; the channels of creativity constantly flowing in, all, and around us. Breath, kinesics, and reflection are universal means of accessing the divine. Commitment to practicing spirituality involves building a relationship with your breath, your body, and your inner world. You have all you need to radically know yourself, love yourself, and live your most wild, freeing, and fantastical life; creating the space is all it takes.

Simple but not easy

The best spiritual practices are simple but they are far from easy. Our minds want to make things complicated; it seems the answers to our uncompromising pain would be abstruse. But I meet the god in myself when I simply just exist. It’s also excruciatingly difficult to sit still, not fidget, and not let my mind run away. Spiritual practices are simple, but not easy.

Process not a destination

Healing yourself is not a destination, it is a lifelong commitment to live fully in the daily choices that keep you in those divine channels of creativity. Spirituality is about enjoying the process and experiencing the process as the goal itself, rather than a means to an end. Just like any other relationship, the one you develop with yourself requires time, patience, and it is ever evolving and changing. But it is the only relationship you have all the time, always and forever. Therefore it is the most beneficial, to you and your beloveds, to be your own best partner.
